- Pre-surgical physical therapy is REQUIRED for the following knee procedures:
- ACL reconstruction
- Knee arthroscopy – Menisectomy
- Knee Arthroscopy – Meniscal Repair
- Patellar Femoral Reconstruction / Realignment
- AMZ Fulkerson
- Knee Arthroscopy – Lateral Release
- Carticel Implantation
- Allograft OATS
- Patellar Tendon / Quadriceps Repair
- Pre-surgical physical therapy is NOT REQUIRED for shoulder procedures
- Pre-surgical physical therapy will include:
- Fitting for crutches and appropriate bracing (TROM) if needed for your procedure.
- Home exercise instruction
- These exercise should be completed the day of your procedure unless otherwise directed by the Physician or Physician Assistants.
- Post-surgical physical therapy is REQUIRED.
- Time and duration of physical therapy is dependent on the procedure, the protocol (click on the procedure above for protocol link) and your personal progress through the rehabilitation.
- Post-Surgical Therapy should begin the following day for the listed knee and shoulder procedures:
- ACL Reconstruction
- Meniscal Repair
- AMZ Fulkerson
- Carticel
- Proximal Realignment
- Patella-Femoral Reconstruction
- Allograft OATS
- Patellar Tendon / Quadriceps Repair
- Total Knee Arthroplasty
- Shoulder Manipulation

- Shoulder Arthoplasty
- Post-Surgical Therapy should begin for the following shoulder and knee procedures no later than 5 days post-operative:
- Knee Arthroscopy Menisectomy
- Knee Lateral Release
- Biceps Tenodesis / Repair
- Post-Surgical Therapy should begin for the following shoulder procedures 2 weeks post-operative:
